July - BIG News

It looks like I blogged in June about what happened in May. So now I'm going to try to catch up on June and July. It's been busy.

Our big activity was the annual trip to Colorado for July 4th camping. We had a GREAT time visiting with long-time friends and getting to know some new people. Reconnected with Steve and Kathleen for an update on life in the Springs. Wayne and Sarah are doing great in Denver. The McNealy's too. The camping trip was TONS of fun. Alan got his fill of fishing (as if that were possible) and even found a WWII mortar in the creek. The Rawling's brought even more Rawling's with them from Missouri this year for us to get to know. Reconnected with the Graves, Berrys, Humphreys, Alexanders, and many others. Very fun time! Cool weather. Beautiful skies and mountains. Now, it was dry as a bone and dusty as could possibly be. But I took a shower every night and slept in my lovely motel room. NICE.

The travel was completely uneventful too, thankfully. We got back about midnight Wed the 8th.

Friday the 10th our lives changes - for the better! Alan was offered a job at Fuji in Greenwood and we are going to be buying a house and moving ASAP.

That sentence should be in BOLD, color, and shimmer with excitement.

We are SO ready for our life to change. He starts Monday, July 26th. It happens to be his old job, so he is familiar with the work and ready to go at it. There is a new boss, thankfully, or he wouldn't have been interested. That week is also the last of summer school, and he'll be commuting the 1.5 hrs each way each day from Spartanburg to Greenwood, so Alan will be BUSY and on the road. But just for one week. He is planning to take the fall off from his GIS program, since we will be buying a house and moving. He wants to focus on the new job and creating the new, less stressful life we want out of this move. He might go back in January, if it fits in his busy biking and fishing schedule.

We get insurance that August 1 (YEAH!) and need to make the rounds to get caught up on our healthcare, meds, etc. Plus there is a relocation package, so we get help with that too.

I'm planning to continue to work full time until we move, then part time wrapping things up until mid-October. After that, who knows?! I'm sure there will be something interesting for me to do in Greenwood.

So, stay tuned for more details as our life changes. We hope to be riding bikes T, Th & Sat each week this fall. I've reserved John Eichelberger as my swim coach. We've checked on the Fuji price of a Y membership. Healthier, more active. That's our goal!
