And another thing

Well, my baseball fan-dom didn't even last one day. I just can't care about baseball. I didn't even watch the game Friday night, which Clemson lost, by the way. I did see about half of the game Saturday, which Clemson lost, by the way. But I still didn't care. Alan didn't care. His daddy didn't care. Baseball is just TOO SLOW and boring.

But I got a great new Clemson orange shirt from Alan to wear, and he bought himself and his daddy new "coaches' polo" shirts of lightweight fabric, orange of course.

And more new clothes from shopping with my mom Saturday afternoon. I needed skirts to wear in this heat. Alan and I have both been more miserable than ever these last 3 weeks of unseasonably hot weather. 10 degrees higher than normal. Like August, only it's June.

We are both looking forward to escaping to Colorado on Wednesday for our annual camping trip. He has the fly fishing gear ready to go.

Tracey Trumbull, who rides with Cathy, took the photo of the two of us. It was FUN catching up with the Trumbulls this year; they've had a lot of changes since we last saw them at GTR 2008. Now living in Chattanooga, instead of Knoxville, and loving the riding there!

One Day Baseball fan

This morning I asked Alan "do you know what is significant about today?" This is the first day I have EVER cared about Clemson baseball. And if they beat (beatdown?) Carolina in the College World Series tonight, I will probably never care again. I didn't notice or care a few years ago when Carolina beat Clemson to get into the title game. I am NOT a baseball fan. Clemson could do away with its baseball program, and I wouldn't care. We could lose in baseball to Carolina every year in the regular season and I wouldn't care. But this is the national stage, we are in the winners bracket and they are in the losers bracket, and suddenly I care. I want to WIN! Go Tigers!!!!!

Farm Tours

Don't faint. Two posts in one day. I must confess I blogged at work earlier today. Forgive me.

Saturday I saw some amazing things on our annual farm tour. Alan, his dad and I first visited a worm farm in Hodges, near where we used to live in Greenwood. It was a fascinating operation. Simple but not primitive.

Then we toured an asparagus farm. All I could think was how much back breaking work it would be to hoe and then pick those 2 acres. But it's only 2 months of the year.

The hydroponic greenhouse was next. End of tomato season; they start new plants in July. Another fascinating commercial operation. Hosted by a lady with "the look" I am after - FIT.

Finally we went to a mushroom farm. A research farm rather than a commercial operation. That guy was PASSIONATE about 'shrooms.

Our final stop was not on the official tour, but Alan's dad wanted us to see the heirloom vegetable garden he's been working on at Clemson with his fellow Master Gardener students.

It was a HOT day and I was exhausted when we got home, but we had a great time learning together.
