Christmas Snow

For the first time in my life it snowed on Christmas Day in South Carolina. This was our backyard view this morning, December 26th.


Alan and I celebrated with his family Thursday night and Friday in Seneca. Here we are after the candlelight service at Seneca Baptist Christmas Eve. Saturday we came home to Greenwood. Mama, Vikki, Emily and Bill joined us in the afternoon, and Mama is staying a few days. It started sleeting/snowing late in the day and this morning the world was white. Temps hovered around 32 all day while it snowed, so it was beautiful. But I didn't leave the house. Haven't been across the threshold today. Enjoyed the beauty from inside.

Monday the 20th

First, a basketball update. PC beat Auburn Saturday in Alabama. WOW! The little team I met just last week took on an SEC team and came away the winners. Great job!

Saturday we ate at Grits & Groceries for the 3rd Saturday in a row, this time with Alan's family, who then drove on down to check out our new place. It was a terrific day to stay in with family - rainy, grey and cold all day. Typical SC December weather. But for the guests, I might have stayed in my PJs all day.

Sunday we drove up to Anderson (after church on the couch) and enjoyed some time with my family at my sister's and at their church. Delisa and Carrie helped direct the children's musical. Annalisa was a cow (think ChikFilA), Cara was an angel (typecasting?) and Libby was a sheep. Purely adorable.

Tonight there is a full lunar eclipse, and tomorrow is the winter solstice. I am SO READY to start adding daylight to my days.

Basketball season

Yeah! I love basketball season. So, Alan and I accepted an invitation from new friends I met in swim class to dinner and a D1 game with them last night. Yes, that was me on the FRONT ROW behind the radio announcers at the Presbyterian College men's game. OK, so there were only like 150 to 200 people at the game, max, but it was a good game, and PC made a valiant effort for atmosphere. Would have helped to have PC students, but they are already off campus for the holidays. Still, the guys played hard, kept it close and in overtime pulled away for a WIN over the Jacksonville State Gamecocks. Anytime gamecocks lose, it's a good game. Thanks, Bruce and Margie Thompson, for inviting us!

Sumptuous

Breakfast today at Grits and Groceries. At left, Alan's Red Rooster breakfast (a fried chicken breast with scrambled eggs over grits and covered in gravy) with a biscuit on the side; ambrosia at top; my egg and cheese biscuit and bowl of creamy grits on the right. YUM.

Visited with Alan's mom in Anderson hospital a few hours today. Kidney stone is causing an infection so she had a procedure this morning to clear it up and will go home tomorrow. She was MUCH better already when we saw her last, about noon:30.

Thanks go out to Anita, Hannah, Kallissa, Gillian and Ellie Grace who spent time putting up Christmas decorations at Grandma Black's house today.

Just enjoyed watching a beat down of the Gamecocks in the SEC championship game. They are who we thought the were, and so is Auburn. My daddy would NOT be proud of me for pulling against a team from South Carolina.
