I already posted about our #3 bike ride on Super Bowl Sunday. Amazingly, Febuary has been a good month for miles. Saturday the 12th we put in 32 COLD breezy miles with the Jim Cox crew. I think there were 13 of us out there on the "ride to nowhere."
Then on the 19th the group, 17 of us because it was a beautiful day, made a 43 mile trek on some classic Jim Cox roads (tar & gravel? definitely not smooth). Bill was along with us so Vikki cooked up a big lunch and had it ready when we got back to the house. Thanks!
Yesterday there were 17 out for the ride again, another beautiful day. We broke into a short ride group and a longer ride group. The tandem actually led the long route, the Nascar version of the Ride to Nowhere (all left turns, backwards from last time). 7 made this 32 mile ride.
These early season rides still require a large meal and a 2 hour nap afterwards, but hopefully we will be in better shape soon.
Looking forward to riding with tandem friends at the end of March. We met up last year around Columbia. This year they are coming to us!

A re-post of wisdom from Nancy
Prayer is about conversation with God and aligning yourself with God's purposes; He knows the outcome and we don't. Maybe, if we were really listening to God's voice on a more intimate level, as suggested in Walking with God, we would know whether we should pray for healing or not because God would tell us.
We have more stories than I am going to cite but we have these in the Old Testament, (2 Kings 20:1-8, Numbers 12:10-14 ) as well as in the New Testament (Mark 9:25-39, James 5:13-16) about people praying for healing. I don't know how prayer works or why sometimes it seems to and other times it seems not to when we pray for healing. All of that is tied up in God's sovereignty. I do know that knowing people are praying does bring comfort and peace to those who are suffering and to those watching them suffer. In Revelation 21:4, John is telling us of the New Jerusalem which will be God's permanent home with man on earth but I believe that heaven is like that for those who are awaiting the end of human time there so I believe healing comes to all believers when they die.
Although they are not about healing, Paul is constantly telling us he always prays for the churches (usually in the first 4 verses of his letters), that we should pray without ceasing (the whole passage says rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.) And then Jesus told a parable about praying and never giving up. And of course Jesus prayed - a lot.
Prayers are a fragrant incense before God. I don't know if it's in the Bible but I have read that our prayers remain forever before God (they become part of eternity) when they reach the throne of God. That may be based on this passage or this one. If God keeps our tears and writes them in His book, surely He would keep our prayers.
Because prayer is important and should be a vital part of our relationship with God, prayers for healing should be offered even if we don't understand why or how it works. I hope these passages help you some.

Bike ride #3
Super Bowl Sunday we charted a new course and rode 20 miles. Loved the new route, on Flatwood. So happy to live where there are good biking roads.
We seized the moment. Saturday was still cold, grey and windy. Misty rain in the morning. Not good for biking. But we checked the forecast and decided to watch church Saturday night so we could ride Sunday morning.
Over 13,000 people attended NewSpring this past weekend, and it was a great service - about when bad things happen to good people. This series has been terrific.
I hit the Y twice today, at 10:30 for yoga, which I enjoy even though the room is cold, and at 1:30 for swim class. There was a swim meet Saturday, which typically means the pool is cold the Monday after, but they did a good job with the temp. Unfortunately they must have shocked the chemicals, because I REEKED, even after my shower. A long bath at home tonight and Alan says there is still a whiff. Good thing I didn't expose my hair to that water.
We enjoyed the Super Bowl with Alan's family last night, although Alan was disappointed the Steelers didn't win. Tough to win when you keep giving the other team the ball.

First things first on the first
Happy Birthday today to my favorite nephew Dave. I also have a favorite nephew Dustin and a favorite nephew Erik. But today is Dave's Day!!!
The weather - well, it stinks. Could be worse, of course. We aren't getting the HUGE winter storm most of the rest of the continental US is getting right now, but it is cold and grey here, anticipating rain for 2 days now. 11 below in Denver this morning. Warmer than that in Kotz, AK. Brrrr.
This past weekend was nice and we got in the second bike ride of the year Sunday afternoon, a mere 12 miles.

Here they are - Lady Libby, King Kade, Queen Cara, and Princess Annalisa. I can only hope they had as much fun as I did. Kudos to my excellent assistant, Hannah Beatty.
